One Normal Night

Tonight I went to The Addams Family which is the first production of the 2012-2013 Broadway In Utah season (I am really excited for some of the upcoming shows).  I have seen some of the old episodes of the popular TV show from the 1960s but I didn't really know much about this new musical.  I went to the show with absolutely no expectations and ended up really enjoying myself!  It is a high energy show with eccentric characters, fun choreography, lots of comedy, and great performances by actors who are very well-suited to their roles.  Daughter Wednesday is bringing her fiance and his family to dinner to meet her family and she begs them to act "normal."  The only problem is that her father Gomez collects torture devices for fun, her mother Mortitia longs for death, her brother Pugsley tries to poison her to make her stay at home, and her Uncle Fester loves the moon.  Needless to say, it is anything but a normal evening!  Gomez (Douglas Sills) is the master of ceremonies trying to keep order and he is absolutely hysterical.  Mortitia (Sara Gettelfinger) is a great dancer (while wearing an unbelievably low-cut dress), especially in the tango number with Gomez at the end of the show.  Wednesday (Cortney Wolfson) has a fabulous voice and, in my opinion, she has some of the best songs in the show, including "Pulled" and "Crazier Than You."  This show is a light-hearted bit of fun that everyone will enjoy.  I recommend it if you have the chance to see it.

Note:  Tonight was anything but normal for me as well!  Right after school I went to the class I have been taking on Thursday afternoons (tonight was the last one) and then went straight to Capitol Theatre for this show.  I am now getting ready to go to the midnight screening of Breaking Dawn Part Two.  I know!  I am a little bit crazy!
